Ideally for the 2025 season
Designed by Alexander Vrolijk, the Bente 24 boasts aggressive lines, lightweight construction, and a practical single transom-hung rudder, making it agile and easy to helm.
Its stand out feature is a hard doghouse with a large plexiglass windscreen, offering good protection for the cooler ends of the Solent season with standing headroom in the companionway.
Rated for coastal sailing, the Bente 24 is affordable and enjoyable to sail, appealing to those looking for a unique, eye-catching daysailer.
Two versions are available and it is proposed to go for the more comprehensively equipped “Edition” which includes North sails, carbon extendible bowsprit, gennaker, electrics package and many more items.

Between 2 and 5 syndicate partners are invited to share in the fun. The maximum number of partners should be a collective decision by those already signed up.
A new Bente 24 will cost up to £78k including transport ex-yard and a comprehensive inventory, so between £13k for a 1/6 share and £26k for a 1/3 share.
Used Bente 24s are available, but seldom in the UK, and importing and equipping a boat from the EU could cost up to £65k including 20% UK VAT. Hence the complications of viewing and importing a used boat makes it preferable to buy new.
Annual running costs, including Hamble marina berth and sinking fund, are anticipated to be in the region of £8.5k, so between £1,450 for a 1/6 share and £2,850 for a 1/3 share.
Whichever RYA qualification you have we’re sure we can integrate you into the syndicate. If you’re a newbie with Day Skipper theory, then join up, sail with other members, work yourself up to Day Skipper practical then you’re in charge.
If you already have Day/Coastal Skipper, ICC or Yachtmaster, then subject to insurance company acceptance, the boat can be all yours from day 1 of your sailing schedule allocation.
It will be encouraged that syndicate partners sail together from time to time to share knowledge and maximise time on the water, and the number of partners will dictate how this works out.
The sailing schedule should be formalised by mid-January each year, and worked around partners’ holidays and commitments. Flexibility is the key.
The Bente 24 is by no means the only fun daysailer available. Others include:
The Bente 24 is arguably the best compromise in terms of cost, performance and suitability for the British climate, primarily due to the built-in ‘sprayhood’.
Yachtmaster offshore
Founding partner, a retired IT professional and web designer, Nigel lives near Hindhead, Surrey with his wife Jenny, and when not sailing, MTB’ing, hiking, or travelling, faffs about creating wooden stuff from his own trees, most recently a pair of Shepherd Huts.
Nigel is well used to yacht shares, the first a 1/3 share of a Beneteau Oceanis 461 between 1999 and 2002 based at Lymington. The second a 1/2 share of a Mystery 35 between 2018 and 2022 based in Dartmouth.
Bored of cruising and big boat maintenance, Nigel is keen to downsize to a daysailer and enjoy the simpler things in life in the beautiful Solent.
